Educational Games: Samurai Warriors
Posted by Taz's Mom on November 17th, 2008 filed in Educational Toys, Geography, HistoryFunny as it seems, my son and husband decided to play this war game on Xbox tonight. I got curious as to whether the battle was made of real armies, since there were so many accurate names on the battlefield. It was just weird to see that most of the people on the game have a first and last name. Usually, games of this sort are not so accurate.
There are also maps of places, battles, skirmishes, and a whole geography of old world Japan. Lo and behold, the names I saw such as Tokugawa Ieyasu, were real people who existed and had power back in the 1600s. I read some of the history to my son as he played so he will know what he is fighting about.
They are still playing, but now he knows that he is in some way a part of the history of Japan, even if only on a tv screen.
