New books for the 1st grade curriculum

Posted by Taz's Mom on September 27th, 2008 filed in Curriculum

Today I headed over to our lovely dollar store, where I find some of the most interesting curriculum content out there. Today, I got addition wipe cards. It is a packet of 20 cards chained together at the top with a wife off pen attached. There were 3 different DVDs with bible stories from the Old Testament (Joseph & the King of Egypt, Noah and the Great Flood, David and Goliath) each of which has at least 5 more stories. There was a really cute 100 piece puzzle with a Land Before Time theme. I was happy to find a kid version of madlibs type word stories. He has a beginning math K-1 practice book, reading & comprehension grade 1 book, Spider Man addition & subtraction. I foudn the coolest books for science called planet earth: our extraordinary world. I got Animals of the air, water, and land. I also got the geography book. They are all workbooks that resemble very well made magazines.

Non-curriculum wise, I got him some magnetic clips for his artwork to be displayed on the refridgerator. We don’t have enough magnets to hold up his work, so these should do better for him. When he comes home Sunday night, he should be well pleased.
