Finished The Duck On The Truck

Today we finished The Duck on the Truck. We are now 4 books deep on the Summer reading program for TOS. Day before yesterday we learned about Gideon, yesterday about Isaac and Abraham. Today, I don’t know what Bible story we will be going through. Math, some writing (words from the book), and a few [...]

I’m Gonna Like Me by Jamie Lee Curtis

I’m Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem has made me think we should get more from the Jamie/Laura team of authors. I got this one from the library. It’s a fun tale about self-esteem. It’s really god, especially when my son can read the smaller transitional words like I, a, me (etc.). We [...]

And they say I’m crazy: NJ schoolers struggle

Take a read through this article from The Star Ledger. People look at me like I am a nutcase when I say I don’t let my son attend these sub-par schools. I would like to know if they still think I am crazy after this little tidbit of information.

Kids and Ice Cream

My son is allergic to milk. Different milk products do different horrendous things to him. Some give him hives, others make him breathe funny, some just give him diarrhea. I guess when a kid sees ice cream, all their common sense goes out the window. Instead of standing up and saying to the guy in [...]

Carnival of Homeschooling #126

I am slowly reading through the latest installment of the Carnival of Homeschooling. The theme this time is the end of the year, or is it? There are a number of entries and a heap of info for everyone. Make sure you check it out.

The stories that make me cry: $5 for 5 years

Mrs. Marie, a great Bible teacher at our church, sowed into my son’s life. She gave him a dollar to put in the baby bottles at our church and a dollar for ice cream. The baby bottle program is designed to donate money to babies that would otherwise die without it. There is a whole [...]

The stories that make me cry: Salvation

Okay so I gave you a brief update earlier on my son giving his heart to God this evening. Here is how it came about: All week we have been talking about the fruits of the Spirit, but we never talked about what “the spirit” is. Tonight, he asked me out of the clear blue [...]

He gave his heart to God

Just a few moments ago, my son asked me: “What’s the Holy spirit?” so I explained…and he understood. Then I asked him if he wanted to give his heart to God and ask Him for the Holy Spirit. My son gave his heart to God on May 25, 2008 at 5:30pm.

California for Homeschoolers

I have been hearing a lot about California not wanting people to homeschool. I just read this article that seems to be saying something quite different. They want to mainstream it moreso than anything. That could be a good and bad thing. So far, nothing is being done more than what they already had in [...]
