Halloween: We don’t celebrate

Posted by Taz's Mom on October 31st, 2007 filed in Life, Spirituality

I had the arduous task of trying to explain to a 4 year old why we don’t celebrate Halloween. I didn’t think I did a good enough job till this morning. He comes to me and hands me a Halloween pencil:

Him: Mommy I can’t have that.
Me: Why not baby?
Him: Because it’s for Halloween and that’s not good, so I can’t have it.
Me: Thank you for listening and understanding. I am proud of you.
Him: Thank you. I’m proud of you, too.

He is too much. Now I have a Halloween pencil to give away and the sense of knowing that I taught him something in a way that he can understand.
