Looking ahead to higher education

When I think about all the things that are going on in the world as well as what choices I will have in the future for my son’s education, I can’t help but to wonder what the best route will be for him later in life. I hope that he is able to make the right choices about higher education. I don’t want him to end up in a bind like myself. I went and didn’t finish. If I had gone to a 2 year college I would have already gotten my degree…but I digress.

With homeschooling, you have so many choices laid out before you. He could decide not to go to public school ever and do his entire schooling at home from now through college. That’s the beauty of the Internet. Online universities are abundant. It would be easy for him to transition from home study for high school to home study for college. He can even get one on one help from the college. That’s a relief for me, since I would feel uncomfortable trying to help him with that homework. It will be great to watch him learn and grow through his studies with well respected professors. He could end up with the bachelor’s degree I don’t have.

Thankfully, I have learned some lessons through my own studies at the university. One of the major points is to not live your life telling your child they HAVE to go to college. When they thirst for knowledge, they will find the way.
