Yesterday’s fervor & Today’s task

My son had the wind of inspiration with him yesterday as he breezed through about six pages of his new workbook from Brighter Vision and helped me make stand up animal cutouts. He was still asking for more workbook pages when I got tired!

His phonics skills are getting stronger. He only made a few mistakes with P and T. He is writing his numbers rather well. We are still working on all the letters of the alphabet, as he can make them all but some of them don’t look quite like the letter. He writes his own name well, too.

His coloring is becoming more precise. I never told him he had to color in the lines, but he keeps bringing his crayon strokes into the outlines.

Video games have helped him learn a lot. The best so far are Reader Rabbit, Little Bear, and Blues Clues. Soon I will reintroduce the Wiggles math sections of his VSmile game.

I am contemplating ordering the full SchoolHouse Rock DVDs as they did me a world of good, his father thinks highly of them, and I know the videos will help in the long run. Those videos are the only reason I ever truly understood multiplication!

Today we decorated the Christmas tree. I let him pretty much figure out where he wanted to put the ornaments. He did a great job. Pictures soon.

I’m a bit disappointed we still have not found the time to homeschool our son. He starts kindergarten in about 18 months and I can tell he’s behind when it comes to counting and knowing his abc’s.
