End No Child Left Behind

You might want to take a look at this petition. I have already signed it. I have always hated the No Child Left Behind Act because it took the power out of the hands of the teachers and left education up to people who haven’t a clue what they are doing.

It’s one of those touchy subjects. Many educators that I know personally have been suffering ever since this Act came into existence. I just pray that somehow we can make a difference and bring education’s focus back to the children. Just because you give the Act a deceptive name, doesn’t mean that the motive changes.

I’ve thought about home schooling, but I was afraid I would screw it up. Good for you!

Hmm. The above comment was for the dr Phil post.

I think the “No Child Behind” Act is hurting schools too. First, there’s really no funding to help those who need help. Second, “under-performing” schools have to pay to transport kids who opt to transfer to another school. Money that is scarce and could be put to better use than transporting kids to a different school.
